Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day Assembly
This is an annual event held jointly by the Jerusalem Theatre and the Yiddishpiel Theatre, featuring stories and personal testimonies about the Holocaust.
This year’s assembly addresses the struggles by Holocaust survivors to return to normal life after World War II, and overcome the shadow of the past.
Through stories and personal testimonies, the event will portray different angles of the survivors’ struggle to rebuild their lives after the war, such as searching for relatives, life in displaced persons camps, preparations for Aliyah, and the difficulties of absorption in Israel. The stories will include songs in Yiddish written during the Holocaust.
A candle will be lit in memory of those who perished, and events during the Holocaust will be recounted via song and selected readings.
An ensemble of actors from the Yiddishpiel Theatre will participate in the event.
