ABC’s of Science – (Pre-School & First Graders)
Children ages 4-6 will journey through the ABCs and the world of Science. We will focus on a different lowercase letter – learning how to form and recognize letters as they build upon each other and a matching science experiment/activity each week. For example, a is for absorption, b is for bubbles, c is for crystals, and so on. This is a follow-up chug to our ArtBC Baking & Art chug from last year, but anyone can join us. Each week children will add a page to their dictionaries to take home at the end of the year; including their artwork, photos and more. In addition to hearing English, children will speak in English, hone their fine motor skills, make choices about their artwork and engage in open-ended STEAM learning.
Painting & Drawing – Ages TBA
Children will learn traditional techniques of painting and drawing, explore famous artists and create in the their styles in this skill based chug focusing mainly on 2D art. We will also explore more modern forms of 2D artistic expression such as mandalla making and Zentangles.
Open Studio “Creators” – (grades 3-6)
Children will navigate through a hub of art & ideas. Various medium will be introduced every 3-4 weeks and children are encouraged to design a project in each medium, combine different materials and techniques and explore their own creative impulses. As the year progresses, the children will follow their curiosity and be taught skills to support their interest in various medium.
